1. When I booked I picked a Lane/Stall that was available, but after seeing it in person I rather have a different spot; is it possible to change?

Answer: As long as there is an available spot which matches your booking needs then consider it yours.  Just ask one of the staff members and he/she will verify availability and help you move.

2. I booked a Lane/Stall, but we were given a different one which is listed on the invoice; what gives?

Answer: Fear not, all our Lanes and Stalls are the exact same.  We may at times need to re-arrange who has what Lane/Stall to help facilitate other booking needs.  Rest assure we will never ask you to change your booking for time and quantity of people.

3. How do I not hurt others, but more important myself when throwing?

Answer: We have staff the will circulate throughout the floor.  If you need some pointers or suggestions, please pull a staff member over and he/she will make you feel in minutes like Paul Bunyan minus the ox Blue.

4. What should I wear?

Answer: Lets start with what not to wear.  Open toed shoes or heels will have you sitting at the table.  Since you will be raising your arm(s) above your shoulders to throw, we suggest a shirt that allows for full motion.

5. Are you wheelchair accessible?

Answer: Yes we are wheelchair accesible.  We also have verified you are also able to throw.  We do ask that someone a bit taller in your party retreaves the hatchet for you if stuck in the target.  If laying on the ground then it is all yours.

6. What is the food/drink policy?

Answer: It is very simple, if the food is store bought or commercially made and not too messy then it is allowed.  The food limitation is all due to health codes; sorry.  There is no limitation on non alcoholic beverages.  I am BYOB, but you have to be at least 21 if you want to consume alcohol.

We have a ton of local take-out eateries' menus from the area of which some will deliver.  Keep in mind length of your rental time and length of food prep time.

7. Are coolers or ice chests allowed inside?

Answer: Due to space limitations at our seating areas we would prefer you to keep the floor as clutter free as possible.  If the item will fit under or on top of the table then feel free to keep it with you else please leave it in your vehicle.

8. What's with the names and number of the lanes?

Answer: We are glad that you did not only notice, but asked.

All these trees are native to the Poconos and most are in the top 15 you will see if you happen to get lost in the woods.

The number represents hardness of the wood as rated with the industry wide standard known as the Janka test.  The Janka test measures the force required to embed a . 444 inch steel ball into the wood by half its diameter.  This test is one of the best measures of the ability of a wood specie to withstand denting and wear.

9. What type of wood am I throwing into?

Answer: This has a two part answer; possibly three parts.  The target itself is Poplar or Cottonwood.  Both are species of wood most commonly used in the making of furniture, cabinets, wooden toys, plywood, etc.  We are phasing out the Poplar for Cottonwood because it is 3x as durable, but is just as easy to stick.  For the header/footer of the target we are using Oak wood. We like it because it takes a beating.

10. What are the lanes made out of?

Answer: Not sure why you want to know that and we have no reason not to tell you.  We are using Pine wood and the style of cut is rough.  Rough cut (or rough sawn) lumber essentially means that this lumber type is untreated and cut into planks.  The texture on the wood is from the cutting of the saw.  The fencing is 2 3/4 gauge welded wire horse panel.


1. What is the cost to throw and what type of payments do you accept?

Answer: We offer various types of packages and price breakdown which can be found listed under Pricing.

For online payment we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.

For in person payment we accept all the above and cash.

2. Should I just walk-in OR make a reservation?

Answer: You can never go wrong with reservations since we do offer a generous refund policy.  Please see Rules & Cancellations for further details on cancellations and possible refunds.

Weekend evenings we often are near capacity or at capacity, so we suggest you check online or contact us and we can reserve a space for you.

If you do like to live dangerously and just show up, our staff has the ability to book on the quarter hours for any Lane regardless the times you can pick.  This option is not on the website so don't waste your time looking.  The least amount of time one can book for is one hour.  For example you walk in at 1:22PM and if space is available from 1:30PM - 2:30PM then we can book you.  If there is someone booked for 2:15PM then unfortunately we won't be able to accommodate you for that time.

3. How far out can a make reservations?

Answer: You are able to book 120 days out, we are able to book any time we want. If you have a need to make reservations further out then please drop us a note. Please see Rules & Cancellations for further details on cancellations and possible refunds.

4. Do I need to book a large group to have my own lane?

Answer: That would be awesome if you bring a large group. Unlike what your parents taught you about sharing, we dont do that here.  You book it, it is yours and only yours.  We offer various pricing plans based on your needs.  All the details can be found under Pricing.

5. We are all booking separately so we can pay separately, how can we still throw together?

Answer: During checkout there is a Note section. Let us know if you are booking with other parties by picking one name to say who you are with. We will do our best to group you, but the only foolproof way is to create one booking under one name. Once all the dust settles and we do the math you may have monies coming back to you per our pricing plan. It will be additional work on our side, but you are worth it!

6. I have no interest in throwing, but I do want to come and watch; is that possible?

Answer: Is that not only possible, we encourage it. The thing is we know you are gonna wanna try it so since you paid the same price, give it a try.

7. I'm having second or even third thoughts, can I cancel?

Answer: We have a whole section on this topic, please see Rules & Cancellations for further details on cancellations and possible refunds.

8. Can I change my booking?

Answer: If you booked online, then you can modify your booking up until 24 hours in advance of your time, just go to your confirmation email and click the link. You will be able to change the date & time (if available).

9. How firm are you on your hours, can I get something outside the regular?

Answer: Trick question.  If it is for the Private Room, please email us else you are out of luck.

10. Do you have Gift Certificates?

Answer: You betcha and it has its own page; Gift Certificates.

11. I didnt see any place to sign a waiver, what is one to do?

Answer: If the reservation was done online there is a place for which the booker could have sent an email with a link for you to sign the waiver.  We love our trees and rather not waste them on paper, so we only want your John Hancock electronically, so here is the link; Waiver.

12. What if I want to add more time after finding out how much fun we are having?

Answer: We can always add another hour to your time if we have the room. We only do hour increments so dont think about asking for 1/2 hour.


1. What time should I arrive for my reservations?

Answer: You read our minds, yes please plan to ARRIVE 15-20 MINUTES EARLY!  We need you to have all your T's dotted and I's crossed and that will take a few minutes.  We also want everyone who is participating to be here when we go over the rules and guidlines.  We will take you to your lane/stall/private room promptly at your reservation time which means anyone who is not here at the time will miss out.

2. How old do you must be to throw?

Answer: As much as we want our venue to be family friendly, we want it to also be safe and enjoyable.  Children at least 12 years old and having the strength and coordination to safely throw a hatchet which will be determined by our staff.

All children must be under the immediate control of an adult! Officially, there must be 1 adult per 3 kids aged 12 - 14; kids 15 - 17 just need one adult per Lane/Stall.  Ages 11 & under are not allowed on site.

3. I have my own equipment, can I bring?

Answer: Yes, but will only allow WATL dimensions for hatchets & axes. If you don't know what those are then please continue to read.

1. The blade (or bit) of the axe may be not longer than 4 inches.  This is to be measured from tip to tip in a straight line.

2. No second bits or spikes on the opposite side of the axe head from the forward facing bit of the axe.  Decorative blunt objects are allowed but there may not be anything that could be considered sharp.  This will be determined by staff.

3. Handle max length can be between 12in/30.48cm than 19in/48.26cm from the bottom of the handle to the top of the axe head.

4. Maximum weight of an axe total is 3 lbs/1.36 kg.

4. Photos, you took them so where are they?

Answer: Our Splinters' Facebook page and Instragram will have them all and organized by date a day or two.  We also will display them on our website for a short time.

If you don't want them displayed cause you were playing hooky or in the witness protection program, just let us know and we won't.  By default all photos will be posted.

4. Can I tip the staff?

Answer: That is a nice gesture of you, but nada. We take care of our staff so they take care of you.  If you want to slip us a note at the front desk on your way out telling us how you liked our staff member(s) it will not go unrewarded for them.
